Cabinet members as per https://www.gov.uk/government/ministers

Resolves YES if any member of cabinet resigns, is fired, dies, or otherwise ceases to hold a position in cabinet in a listed calendar quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec).

Being promoted to another cabinet position does not count as leaving.

Losing one cabinet role when multiple are held (and thus remaining in cabinet) does not count as leaving.

All cabinet members being replaced simultaneously e.g. at a general election will resolve YES.

The only cabinet positions that will cause this to resolve are those listed under the "Cabinet Ministers" section of the webpage above.

  • Ministers under "Also attends Cabinet" will NOT cause a YES resolution.

  • Ministers under "Ministers by department" not also under "Cabinet Ministers" will NOT cause a YES resolution

  • The Cabinet Office is NOT the same as Cabinet and Ministers under "Cabinet Office" not also under "Cabinet Ministers" will NOT cause a YES resolution.

@Noit Unless I am mistaken, this can resolve YES

@JussiVilleHeiskanen who’s gone?

@JussiVilleHeiskanen ok, Simons was a minister in the Cabinet Office, but he was not in the list of “Cabinet Ministers” or the “also attends cabinet” list on the UK.gov website. He was a parliamentary secretary which is not a cabinet position so I’ll not resolve YES on the basis of his leaving.

I think I do need to update the wording slightly though to make it clear that Cabinet Office doesn’t count and is a separate thing from Cabinet, because I can totally understand the confusion.

@Noit Ok. I'll let my bet ride, so it serves as a reminder for me to think about things in detail before betting.

@traders Annelise Dodds has resigned as Minister of State for Development, and she appears on the linked Ministers page so I have resolved Yes. I am tempted to update criteria for future months to refer to ministers under the Cabinet Ministers subheading and excluding the "also attends Cabinet" section, but interested to hear arguments either way.

@traders Louise Haigh has resigned as Transport Secretary, Q4 resolves YES. First cabinet exit of the Starmer administration.
